2020 Annual Conference is Cancelled

An Important Message from 2020 Annual Conference Chairman Bobby Powell:

March 16, 2020

Dear Friends and Members of the Southeastern Chapter:

In 2018 I was forced to cancel our Fall Conference due to Hurricane Florence. Now, with careful consideration for the safety and wellbeing of our members and attendees, and after a consultation with the entire Southeastern Chapter Board of Directors, I must take the same action today. Based on recommendations from the CDC, medical and other authorities regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, we are cancelling our Annual Southeastern Chapter Conference scheduled for April in Daytona Beach, Florida. It’s nice to have a place in history, but I now must be recorded as the only chapter president to have to cancel two conferences due to Acts of God!

We have received many inquiries from members and have already heard from several of our exhibitors who would not be able to attend due to recently enacted corporate policies, so most likely this decision would have eventually been taken out of our hands anyway. Of course, all fees for registrations, exhibits, golf and any other events will be refunded to you in full, using the same manner in which the original payments were made. (Payments by credit card will be refunded to the original card. Payments by check will be refunded with a check by mail.) It will take a few days to get this done, but you should receive your refund by the end of March. If you have not, please contact the chapter office.

Our new chapter president, Billy Johns, intends to “reconstruct” the 80th Annual Chapter Conference just as it was planned, hopefully for April of 2021, but we will have to await developing events to make that decision final. This was actually shaping up to be a great conference, and it is so disappointing to have to cancel, but we hope that you will all start planning now to join us next year in Daytona. In the meantime, please know that we deeply regret the necessity of this action and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Ray Paden, our Executive Secretary-Treasurer, President Billy Johns or myself.

Best regards,
Bobby Powell
